{"id":4119,"date":"2024-11-08T11:22:50","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T01:22:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcanberra.esteri.it\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2024\/11\/lunch-event-test-tasting-as-part-of-the-week-of-italian-cuisine-in-the-world\/"},"modified":"2024-11-08T13:14:23","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T03:14:23","slug":"lunch-event-test-tasting-as-part-of-the-week-of-italian-cuisine-in-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcanberra.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2024\/11\/lunch-event-test-tasting-as-part-of-the-week-of-italian-cuisine-in-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Lunch event &#8220;Test &#038; Tasting\u201d as part of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As part of this year\u2019s <em>Week of Italian Cuisine in the world<\/em>, the <strong>Embassy of Italy in Canberra<\/strong> proposes a unique \u201c<strong>Test &amp; Tasting<\/strong>\u201d experience, hosted at the DECO Hotel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Guests will embark on an immersive journey that blends scientific insights with sensory exploration, highlighting the differences and similarities between Italian and Australian wines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The sensations evoked by a wine come from its richness in aromatic volatile compounds, which originate from the grape variety and are further influenced by the soil, the climate, the grape&#8217;s ripening process, and the winemaking techniques.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Through chemical analysis, we can uncover differences between two wines that share the same name but have undergone different vinification processes, while the human palate can detect further nuances; since our olfactory receptors are incredibly sophisticated, and can detect thousands of different aromatic molecules.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This means that wines with similar chemical compositions may evoke diverse sensations, while others that appear indistinguishable on the palate may have followed completely different production paths.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During our tasting, we will explore three pairs of wines: a Fiano, a Montepulciano, and a Grenache\u2014three produced in Italy and three in Australia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Dr. Vilma Hysenaj<\/strong>, an Italian chemist and food analysis expert at the <strong>Australian Wine Research Institute<\/strong> in Adelaide, will guide us through the chemical analyses of the wines. <strong>Kathryn Oplantzakis<\/strong>, a renowned oenologist based in Canberra, will lead the tasting experience.
