The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, took part today in the main events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance, in memory of the victims of the foibe and the Istrian, Fiuman, and Dalmatian exodus. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the entire diplomatic-consular network and Italian Cultural Institutes have joined the celebrations with the aim of keeping the memory of this tragedy alive around the world.<\/p>\n

The Italian Foreign Minister participated in the commemoration ceremony organized on February 10, 2025, at the Quirinal Palace, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. Tajani concluded his speech by emphasizing that \u201cby cultivating the memory of the tragedies we commemorate on the Day of Remembrance, we must remain vigilant against those who deny the values and fundamental principles of civil coexistence.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the \u201cFriends of the Balkans\u201d ministerial meeting, Minister Tajani stressed that the memory of the victims of violence and the exodus from Istria, Fiume, and Dalmatia should contribute to the creation of a shared memory with neighboring countries about the painful events of our eastern border. The example of Nova Gorica \u2013 Gorizia, European Capital of Culture in 2025, represents a significant step towards overcoming divisions based on old ideologies and ethnic conflicts, in the truest spirit of the common belonging of Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia to the European Union.<\/p>\n

On 10 February, at the initiative of the Minister, the inscription \u201cIo Ricordo\u201d (I Remember) will be lit up on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
