The Embassy of Italy in Canberra is looking for a driver/clerk/switchboard operator.

The job will involve official driving duties and administrative office clerk tasks.

The position is ongoing and it offers good working conditions, with an average gross monthly salary of AUD $ 5,500 and 36-hour week.

Selection criteria

In order to be eligible, candidates must:

  1. Be 18 years old or older;
  2. Have the right to work in Australia;
  3. Be Australian permanent resident or Australian citizen;
  4. Have been living in Australia for at least two years;
  5. Hold a valid Australian driver’s license.

Candidates need to fill and sign an application, to be completed according to this form, in which they declare:

  1. First and last name; date and place of birth; current residency;
  2. Contact details (phone number and email)
  3. Being physically fit for the position;
  4. Citizenship or citizenships held;
  5. How long they have been living in Australia for;
  6. Any criminal convictions, including those imposed abroad, as well as any pending criminal proceedings against them;
  7. Any compulsory military obligations (if applicable);
  8. Educational qualification (minimum primary school);
  9. To hold a valid Australian driver licence;
  10. Previous working experiences relevant to the position.

Applications must be accompanied by a copy of a valid identification document and must be sent at the following email address commerciale.canberra@esteri.it no later than 11.59 pm on 12 march 2024.

Applications sent after this date or that do not state all the above will not be considered.

 

Candidates meeting the above requirements will undergo theoretical and practical tests, which will consist of:

  • an interview aimed at assessing professional aptitudes, language assessment (knowledge of Italian language is preferable) and traffic regulations knowledge;
  • a driving test;
  • a practical test on the day-to-day tasks the job involves.

Candidates must obtain an average score of at least 70/100, with individual scores not falling below 60/100 in each test. The minimum score of 70/100 is required in the driving test.

For the eligible candidates, additional points will be given for possessing educational qualifications higher than those required and for previous work experiences (provided they are supported by documentation attached to the application).
