Message of the Ambassador of Italy to Australia, H. E. Nicola Lener :
I am honoured to represent Italy in Australia. Our two nations share a strong commitment to the values of democracy and freedom, as well as deep and enduring ties of friendship, expressed both at the bilateral and multilateral levels. Australia is a partner of growing importance for Italy in the Indo-Pacific region, a global crossroads of commercial and geostrategic interests.
Although Canberra is geographically distant from Rome, our bonds are strong, thanks in particular to a vibrant Italian community and Australians of Italian descent, who have made a significant contribution to shaping contemporary Australian identity. Together with the Italian consular network across the country, we are fully committed to further strengthening our economic, scientific, and cultural relations, with a forward-looking approach and special attention to younger generations.
