The Covid-19 pandemic is having a major impact around the globe on people, on healthcare systems, social services and economic activity, all of which will make it harder to achieve the 2030 Agenda and Paris Agreement goals.
While European citizens are naturally focused on the situation at home, Covid-19 poses a global threat that requires a truly global response, not least in partner countries with fragile healthcare systems and economies. The European Union and Member States, acting as ‘Team Europe’ (#TeamEurope ) have launched a comprehensive external response to the pandemic to support:
• Emergency response actions;
• Strengthening health, water and sanitation systems & preparedness and response capacities;
• Addressing the economic, social and political impact of the crisis.
The Italian Cooperation (@Cooperazione_it) is the main tool with which Italy participates in the international response to Covid-19 crisis.
Italy is one of the promoters of the establishment of multilateral process of coordination and global collaboration for the response to the pandemic, including the proposal to establish an international alliance for vaccine research and for the health response to Covid-19, merged into the co-direction of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator
