Inauguration of the Norton Street Italian Festa in Leichhardt

On Sunday 30 October, the Italian Ambassador Paolo Crudele inaugurated, together with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, the Norton Street Italian Festa in Leichhardt, in the heart of what is historically considered the Little Italy of Sydney. The Festa was attended by over 100,000 people.

Originating in the early 1980s as the Festival of Italianism par excellence, the Italian Festa has gradually transformed over the decades into a great occasion to celebrate Australia’s multiculturalism.

During the mission, which ended on Monday 31 October, Ambassador Crudele met with representatives of the main Italian associations in Sydney and Club Marconi, also visiting some of NSW’s technology hubs: Tech Central and the National Industry Space Hub.

“These were days of celebration and hard work, of dialogue with the Italian-Australian communities and NSW authorities, invaluable meetings with a view to future collaborations,” the Ambassador commented.
