Ambassador Crudele attends 7th Indian Ocean Conference

Indian Ocean Conference 4

The Ambassador of Italy to Australia, Paolo Crudele, took part in the 7th edition of the Indian Ocean Conference, which was held in Perth from 9 to 10 February 2024.

Organised by the India Foundation in collaboration with the Australian and Indian Governments, the conference brought together political, diplomatic and academic leaders from across the region to address issues related to environmental sustainability, safety and freedom of navigation from a common platform and to promote the strengthening of cooperation between Indo-Pacific countries.

Ambassador Paolo Crudele highlighted that the Indian Ocean plays a key role in global trade. Italy is committed to ensuring the security of maritime and trade routes, as demonstrated by our participation in the EU Aspides mission in the Red Sea.

The Conference has emerged as the main consultative forum for the countries of the region over the past seven years, in parallel with the growing centrality of the Indo-Pacific area in the global geopolitical balances.
