Ambassador Crudele participates in the Italian Design Day in Sydney, with Salone del Mobile as protagonist

Sydney, June 25, 2024 Simona Bernardini, Director of the Trade Italian Agency in Sydney, and Paolo Barlera, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney, celebrated the art and innovation of Italian design in the presence of the Ambassador of Italy to Australia, Paolo Crudele, through an event at the Space Furniture showroom in Alexandria (Sydney).

It was a unique opportunity to have a glimpse of the latest trends and innovations presented at the Salone del Mobile and to gain a better understanding of the Italian design landscape. During the evening, Rebecca Caratti, Director of Vogue Living Australia, and the renowned architect Alessandro Colombo, ambassador of Italian design worldwide, shared their experiences, exploring the themes of innovation and sustainability in Italian design, distinctive elements of creativity.

“Italian designers have always pushed boundaries, combining tradition and innovation. They have defined the evolution of what it means to create beauty in the contemporary world. Their work is not only about aesthetic appeal but also about improving the quality of life and creating experiences that resonate emotionally,” stated Ambassador Crudele, adding that “furniture represents one of the sectors where the hallmark of Italian creativity is most easily recognizable, and the Salone del Mobile has become a cornerstone for the projection of Italian design recognized worldwide.”

During the celebratory event of the Italian Design Day in Sydney, participants had the opportunity to appreciate exclusive furniture pieces directly from the Salone del Mobile 2024, displayed in the elegant Space Furniture showroom. The evening was also the opportunity to launch of the “Italian Design Catalogue in Australia and New Zealand,” a comprehensive guide to the excellence of Italian design in Australia and New Zealand curated by the Italian Trade Agency.
