SpIRIT’s Inauguration

 

In the occasion of the last step of The SpIRIT satellite preparation before the launch in November, the ambassador of Italy in Australia. Paolo Crudele and the president of the Australian Space Agency, Enrico Palermo, gathered at the Mt Stromlo National Space test facility in Canberra, for a symbolic inauguration ceremony.

The SpIRIT satellite is the result of an ASA-ASI collaboration started in 2020, and is the first scientific Australian satellite. Moreover, ASI is the first national spatial agency to participate to an ASA based space project.

The Ambassador expressed his congratulation to the team led by prof. Michele Trenti of the University of Melbourne, and agreed with ASA president on the mutual interest in reinforcing the collaboration between the two agencies of the two countries.

The ceremony were also present the Stuart Wyithe director of the Research school of astronomy and astrophysics of ANU and Eduardo Trifoni, director of the National Space Test Facility.
