Visit of Ambassador Crudele to Melbourne

“An important opportunity to renew Italy’s interests on a commercial, cultural and institutional level in Victoria, one of Australia’s most important States and with one of the most numerous communities of Italian descendants.”.

These were the words of Ambassador Paolo Crudele at the end of his mission to Melbourne (15-17 September) where, accompanied by Consul General Hanna Pappalardo, he met the new Governor of the State of Victoria, Professor Margareth Gardner, the Director of the Victoria Office of the Australian Foreign Ministry, Timothy Kane, and the new Managing Director of the Australian Grand Prix, Trevis Auld.

Ambassador Crudele also attended the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s annual Gala in Melbourne, with over 500 guests, including the Member for Victoria, Anthony Cianflone, representing Minister for Climate Action, Energy and Resources and Minister of State for the Electricity Commission, Lily D’Ambrosio, the Leader of the Opposition, John Pesutto, the Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp, the CEO of the City of Hobart, Jaqui Allen, Senator Francesco Giacobbe and the Honourable Nicola Care’, as well as other members of the Italian and Italian-Australian business community in Victoria and Tasmania.

Lastly, the Ambassador visited the Italian Museum in the heart of Melbourne’s ‘Little Italy’ in the Carlton district, which still retains an unmistakable Italian identity, located at Co.As.It Melbourne, one of the city’s most important Italian community institutions and our partner in the Italian language courses and in the promotion of Italian culture. There, he met with CO.AS.IT management and Comites Melbourne – Victoria and Tasmania representatives to discuss projects and common interests.
