Canberra responded enthusiastically to lecture by Dr Meganne Christian

Great evening of science and adventure at the Science Dome last Friday 11.08 with the first female Australian astronaut Meganne Christian. Thanks to the Embassy of Italy in Australia for the organization, to the Australian Academy of Science for the warm hospitality and to H.E Paolo Crudele, ambassador of Italy in Australia who enthusiastically introduced her lecture as an example of the Italian scientific excellence, recalling the positive  cooperation between Italy and Australia in the space sector.

Meganne, who recently acquired Italian citizenship, was able to make the numerous and fascinated audience wander from the fragrance of the tortellini tasted under the Bologna towers, to the freezing walks under the southern sky during the long Antarctic night, from the tiny dimension of the nano-world she studied at the Italian National Research Council (CNR) to the vastness of the space where hopefully she will be in a near future, wearing the European Space Agency spacesuit, star among the stars.

Many questions at the end of her talk, including some young kids, who, inspired by her smiling enthusiasm, were confident will follow her path.

For those who missed the event, the registration will be available on the AAS website starting from the 24 of August.
