Assolirica’s contribution was decisive for the inclusion of opera singing in the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Assolirica promotes the diffusion of the value of the opera theater as an excellence and cultural heritage of the Italian Republic.
As UNESCO writes “Opera singing in Italy is a physiologically controlled way of singing that improves the power of the voice in acoustic spaces such as amphitheaters and churches. It is associated with specific facial expressions and gestures and involves a combination of music, theatre, acting and staging. Transmitted orally between teacher and student, the practice promotes collective cohesion and socio-cultural memory. It is a tool for free expression and intergenerational dialogue and its cultural value is recognized at a national and international level.”
